An overcast morning gave us a vacant swimming hole in downtown Austin at Deep Eddy. Known as the "oldest swimming hole in Texas," Deep Eddy was first built in 1915 after a large boulder formed an eddy off the Colorado River. Today it is a man-made swimming pool that is filled daily with fresh water from the Colorado River. Every night they drain the pool, scrub the walls algae free and refill each morning for the swimmers! Water temperature varies from 65-75 degress.
With a minimal entrance fee and unbelievably fresh, chemical-free water...I may have found my favorite swimming hole!
