MeWe 2011

We tried to enjoy the long weekend with an escape to the farm, but a newly discovered water leak and other "chores" kept us busy rather than relaxing. A burn ban x-ed our s'more tradition so we managed to stay sugared up between popcicles and sodas.

On a good note...the fish are back and biting. If only we had the time (and silence) to catch them :)

I See SPOTS!

You have got to love the amoxicillin rash that can develop a good week into your antibiotic therapy. I have seen it a million times and on my own child it is hard. Oatmeal bath, benadryl, repeat...as much as both of you can handle. I know better not to go against the pediatricians recommendation, but I am NOT making him finish the last 3 days of the antibiotic and I AM saying he is allergic to this stink'n med.

2nd Place!

Going into the Championship Game we knew 2nd place was our destiny. The other team is and should have been (literally) out of our league! Our boys played with heart, dignity, and pride. We were even lucky enough to have our grandma, cousins, and teacher in the stands cheering the Blue Jays on!

Almost done!!

T-Ball is officially over! It was a great season and Alex is looking forward to coach pitch next year.

As for Will, his team surprised everyone and will play in the championship game Monday night. Nothing less than second place :)

One Step at a Time

This weekend we had yet another race, but no mud this time! Only 660 stairs as we raced to the top of the Frost Bank Tower in downtown Austin. 31 floors, hundreds of participants, thousands of dollars raised for the American Lung Association, fighting for a single breath and cleaner air. Even though it was probably my shortest race ever, the Fight for Air Climb was one of the best!

finish time: 6 min 19 sec
pace: 12 sec per flight
place in my age division: 9th out of 56
overall place: 92nd out of 355

Northbound 35

A road trip to Oklahoma for an aunt's funeral has kept me busy the past few days. It was Fran's first visit to my Dad's grave, my uncle's farm to see the pigs and pick eggs out from the coop, and to meet my millions of cousins.

I was even lucky enough to spend a few extra minutes in the town of Paoli while a man in blue wrote me a speeding ticket :(

Brothers

Yes...they fight, scream, kick and even punch at times but once in a while we see them in a moment. A moment that reminds us they really do love each other after all these years. And best of all, they have not changed a bit :)

My Day

A trip to my favorite swimming hole with my family and not stepping a single foot into the kitchen all day. It was a wonderful Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

My top 3 reasons why I LOVE being a mom!

Jailbreak

Another weekend, another race. This time we drove northwest of Austin to run the Jailbreak. 3.5 miles, tons of obstacles, 90+ degrees in the fun Texas sun. The 4 of us "mothers" easily finished in the top 10 from our heat (I won't tell you how many runners there were.) Lets just say we ran, walked some, stopped for photos, water breaks here-and-there and easily came out as winners. The things we will do to roll in the mud and free beer!
