Enchanted Rock

A short road trip today to Enchanted Rock was perfect. Not many hikers, cool and sunny. We ended the trip with a late lunch at Cooper's BBQ in Llano, TX. Their meat is delicious but the pecan cobbler will blow you away!

I Forgot!

I remembered the cookies, milk ,reindeer food, and gifts. I remembered telling our elf good-bye before he parted ways upon Santa's arrival. I remembered to charge the camera battery. I even remembered reiterating the Christmas rules with the kids: do not come downstairs without your sister and NO opening gifts until Mommy and Daddy are awake too. But I forgot to tell them what time they were allowed to come downstairs!

It is now just 5 am and I have finished 2 cups of coffee. All gifts are open and the trash is even picked up. Breakfast is ready. We have witnessed a few tears and fight or 2. Is it possible we all may get a nap in before 10 am mass?

Merry Christmas to all and to all a fabulous day!

Silent Night....

all is calm, all is bright.

Christmas Crafts

The Christmas crafts can go on and on and on. My favorites this year were:

1. Old green shutters I scored for free that I sanded down, painted, made glitter star clothes pins and turned into a gorgeous Christmas card holder (better finish the other 3 by next year, this one filled up fast!)

2. Our annual 2-layered Peppermint Bark give-a-way to all neighbors, teachers, friends, etc.

3. Wooden ornaments I alway buy at the after Christmas clearance for the following year. The kids will spend hours outside or in the garage painting, coloring...

4. Reindeer food for tomorrow night. Pour, shake, sprinkle!

PNP: After bedtime...

grab a glass of wine and complete this for your kids before Christmas Eve! It is even better than last year and will put the biggest smile ever on a young face.

Snow in Texas!

Not real snow...it is still shorts weather here. But head down to the Gaylord Hotel and you can tube super-fast down a snow hill indoors! Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for treating us to the most exciting day ever! Gorgeous gingerbread houses, elf balloon makers, hot chocolate, miniature trains, and Mexican food.

We Believe...

Even though my kids can now tell the difference between the real Santa and his Santa-looking helpers (the beard and boots), we still believe in him. And as a good friend wrote this week, I hope they believe forever!

It was the first year Fran did not cry. Will is starting to look too big sitting on his lap. And Alex said Santa requested chocolate chip cookies Christmas Eve. I better run to the store!

Safe travels to all and Merry Christmas!

December in Texas

You have to love a 76 degree December day! I know we did...

More Fun With Friends!

Christmas time brings many traditions, our favorite being decorating a gingerbread house. Rather than doing it alone we invited some of our best friends. 11 kids, a handful of mommies and even a few dads enjoyed a gorgeous day on the back porch with more candy than necessary.

After the completion of our small gingerbread village, the kids ran off their sugar high before heading on their way!

All I Want for Christmas...

is my 2 front teeth!

7 years later...

Am I really 7 years older too? Crazy how time flies!

We enjoyed a family lunch with menu of Will's choice along with the opening of all family gifts. Once we peeled away the boys from all of the new lego sets (tears included) we managed to meet up with our favorite wild cousins of Austin for the annual Zilker Christmas Tree lighting. Short and sweet, just like last year.

I am ready for Monday!

Movie Night

We celebrated Will's 7th birthday with 15 of his closest friends tonight with movie themed party...and could not have been blessed with better weather on an unpredictable December night!

Pizza, backyard playtime, cake, and "Home Alone" shown under the stars with popcorn and hot chocolate! It was a huge success even though it was the longest 3 hours of my week.

Candles, Cranberries & a Crazy Playdate

Leave it to my family to squeeze in a weeks full of activities in 3 short days. We managed to see 3 grandmas, 2 grandpas, and a great-grandma & great-grandpa, 2 birthday parties, a play date with my high school girlfriends along with their kids, and a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Happy 3rd birthday to my sweet girl (most of the time at least) and thanks for giving me so much to be thankful for!
