Candles, Cranberries & a Crazy Playdate

Leave it to my family to squeeze in a weeks full of activities in 3 short days. We managed to see 3 grandmas, 2 grandpas, and a great-grandma & great-grandpa, 2 birthday parties, a play date with my high school girlfriends along with their kids, and a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Happy 3rd birthday to my sweet girl (most of the time at least) and thanks for giving me so much to be thankful for!

Give Thanks!

The boys and I headed downtown to provide a sit down Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless last night. We were responsible for the service to 2 tables (16 people). The boys favorite part of the night "carrying the bread basket and dessert tray!"

We met some wonderful people and are looking forward to the Christmas meal next month. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Warrior Dash

UPDATE: My official finish time is 30:34! 1239th out of 8225 overall on Saturday and 23rd out of 508 ladies aged 35-39 and 218 out of 3840 overall.

Yes, we are officially addicted to extremely muddy races! Today we experienced the Warrior Dash first hand. A 3.2 mile course with 11 obstacles including climbing over junk cars, balance beams, running through a river, over a huge hay stack, ropes courses, tire trots, and climbing walls only to finish by jumping over 2 fire pits and treading your way to the finish line through the mud pit. And then once again to the beer tent for your free beer. The kids got their fill of turkey legs, live music, and what to expect at really crazy frat parties in about 13 more years!

Still waiting on finish times :)

TGIF

After one of the busiest weeks in my life, I am so thankful it is finally Friday. And what a good way to start it off: an Eagle award winner at school and the cutest Indian in the kinder play!

Eagle Award ~ for those kiddos who often display great character, leadership, and behavior, respect for others, pride in his work, and a willingness to help others

Run Boys Run!

A busy morning up at the elementary school trying to keep up with 2 athletes during track and field day! All the kids did great and had a blast.

Almost 3

Since our little girl turns 3 on Thanksgiving day this year, we had her birthday party a week early. Her choice of theme "pink Hop Hops," each kid got their face painted and bunny ears. We all had a blast this morning and it was fun watching Fran enjoy herself!

Kid's View

Ice cream, scenic views and a park were WAY better fun than the race!

Hula Girls Rocked!

Who says age matters...I finished 3 minutes faster today than I did 5 years ago at the 1/2 marathon in Dallas! It was a great 14 weeks of training but I am glad the commitment is over. Back to running for fun.

Half Marathon Start: Gun 7:17:02 Chip 7:18:24
Splits: 5 Km 10k 7.6 Mi 10 Mi Finish O'All Sex Div
Times: 26:12 53:13 1:03:03 1:26:22 1:57:28 3063 970 168
Pace: 8:26 8:34 8:18 8:39 8:58

Thats right people, total finish at 1 hour 57 minutes and 28 seconds! With an average of 8 minute 58 second miles. I still can't believe it myself :)

BBF: Boy's Best Friend

If a dog is mans best friend, than a stuffed one is a boy's! And Will has had one pretty much his entire life. His BBF has traveled first class, ventured the Arctic Circle to southern Greece, celebrated birthdays and holidays, and gotten him through many sick days. Even at a few weeks shy of 7 years old, he still will fall asleep with him each night.

So last night during prayers when he broke out in a hysterical cry, I knew something was terribly wrong. His BBF lost an eye! By luck we found it and today while he was at school Nurse-In-Training Fran reattached the eye with some TLC.

I know one day this stuffed dog will be lost in the back of his closet, but for now...it is keeping my oldest young :)

Gypsy Picnic

With Daddy and Alex away on a camping trip, I took the 2 others downtown to check out the Gypsy Picnic... A gathering of Austin's best trailer food nomads for a day of tasty treats, tunes & more. You know with 30+ trailers on a grassy field on a beautiful day, we were happy. Before we knew it, crowds took over the area and the food and festivities were not worth staying around for. We did get a chance to sample 3 new trailers and hang with our cousins for a bit!
