Young Writer

At the beginning of the year following holiday break, each student was given the opportunity to write their own book and have it published. Big immediately began his story. Every word and illustration was his own, making it more special. "Our Adventure" is about 2 brothers who ride their scooters to Lego Land and help the workers build a huge giraffe.

Today Big was presented with a copy of his hardback book along with a medal!

Pedernales Falls

After our races we took all the buddies and our cheering section to Pedernales Falls State Park. We enjoyed a picnic lunch, an easy hike, and wading in the water while we threw some rocks.

Another great weekend!

Mini-Muddy Mueggs

I thought my race was fun...but the mini was even better. It may have been the 2 beers before hand but watching my 2 boys (and cousins) get dirty was great! Big lead the pack and finished 2nd in his age division. Little was another story. The pit was "too deep" (knee high) and the tears would not stop. Now that we are all home and clean, he is ready for the next one.

Muddy Mueggs (Its a family thing!)

The Muddy Buddy should definitely be on everyone's bucket list! It was the best race of my lifetime. Grab a buddy (mine was my fab cousin), start training (it is NOT an easy race), and get ready for a fantastic Sunday morning. 6 miles of running and biking, over, thru, and under obstacle courses, only to finish with a mud pit crawl. Any race where you get 2 free beers at the finish line must be a good one. We will be back...

Update: We got 9th place out of the 60 teams in our age division, 66-75 years (added ages, we are both 34). Our unbelievable time was 54:46!

As happy as...

...a kid (or 3) in a candy store! Downtown errands were bribed today with a surprise stop. Big Top Candy Shop was the treat for my 3 angels! They all walked in wide-eyed and on a sugar high just by looking. We walked out with bags of gummies, licorice, and of course...the dreaded 10 day lolly.

Mother's Day

Below is what makes today so special...morning hugs and kisses, hand picked flower bouquets, homemade cards, painted flower pots, etc. Happy Mother's Day to every mom of yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

Run Big Run

A gorgeous morning to cheer on Big at Track and Field Day! From races to a bean bag toss, the kids played for over 2 hours. I see an early bedtime in our future!

True Grit

We stopped off in Granger, TX to view the set of True Grit. The movie is a Coen brothers remake of the 1969 John Wayne hit. Granger is temporarily transformed into a old western town and will be visited the next few weeks by Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, and some other Hollywood names. True Grit is scheduled to be in the theaters this Christmas.

Dead or Alive

We finally had a free weekend...no t-ball, no birthdays, no appointments. Of course he headed out to the farm since it has been over a month. The place looked great and the kids could not wait to jump on their "wheels" and play. Again we filled the time with fresh air, tons of mowing, nature walks, s'mores, popcorn and movie night, and an evening by the fire pit.

Spring has put life all over the farm...gorgeous flower and lots of critters. Unfortunately, something has happened to our grass carp. During Spring Break we found 4 dead. This weekend after walking the shores of the big lake, we found 19 more skeletons...AARRRGGGGHHHH! Maybe that school down in College Station can be good for something and figure out the problem :)

The BEST part of the weekend was watching Ms. Pink learn to "pop a squat" and even better, watching Daddy trying to help her!

Splish Splash

Nothing like going for a swim after a LONG day of school! As soon as we picked Big up from kinder, we hit the water as if summer never ended. The boys picked up right where they left off and Ms. Pink is still not afraid of a thing. We have at least 5 more months of this ahead of us!
